WeeRuns was started in
1994 as a semi-annual sales event in High Point, North Carolina. With just 28
consignors participating in that first sale, WeeRuns has grown to include sales
events in Rutherford County (2000).
Current sales events organize over 1000
participants and approximately 500 volunteer helpers per season. In 2010, over
125,000 consigned items were sold through WeeRuns sales events.
Why Consignment?
Because kids grow
so quickly, both physically and developmentally, most often their clothing,
toys, and equipment still have lots of value when they’ve finished with them.
Consignment makes sense because it provides all of the following:
parents the opportunity to get money back out of their children’s quality items, providing extra money for the household budget
parents the venue to sell their items without having the headache of a garage sale, and bringing in more money than garage sale prices
grandparents and other caregivers the opportunity to purchase much-needed equipment without having to pay full retail
shoppers the opportunity to find quality merchandise at a fraction of retail price…especially important when extra attention is being paid to budgets and purchases!
shoppers the opportunity to find incredible bargains and unusual items that come from many participants
recycling at its best
